Round Robin Test for Pharmaceutical Glycerol
Methods from fuel sector show better precision than Pharmacopeia
Twelve laboratories from Austria, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands participated in the second round robin test for pharmaceutical glycerol organized by Association Quality Management Biodiesel e.V. (AGQM).
Round robin tests offer the opportunity for company and commercial service laboratories of an external quality assurance for the analytics of selected parameters. The round robin test for pharmaceutical glycerol was completed successfully for the second time.
The methods from the European Pharmacopeia for analytics of glycerol include vague descriptions and offer room for interpretation. Additionally, usually there are no precision details given. The first round robin test in 2015 showed a bad precision for some of the methods from the European Pharmacopeia. That is why these were, if possible, complemented or exchanged by standard methods from the fuel sector in the second test round. Fortunately, these new methods achieved a much better result. The data obtained from the round robin test can be the base for a revision of the Pharmacopeia methods.
For autumn 2017 a third round robin test is planned. All interested laboratories are invited to participate to check their analytics. More information can be found here. Or requested under info@agqm biodiesel.de.
