AGQM to start next No-Harm Test Round for Oxidation Stabilizers

AGQM (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Qualitätsmanagement Biodiesel e.V.) started its 11th no-harm test for oxidation stabilizers for Biodiesel and its second No-Harm Test for bio heating oil.

Mineral oil based Diesel fuel is blended with up to 7% FAME (fatty acid methyl ester, Biodiesel) based on EN 590, the European Standard for Diesel fuel. Oxidation stabilizers for Biodiesel in Diesel fuel are strongly recommended which is why producers of commercial Biodiesel already admix antioxidants almost every time. Possible negative interaction of the additives with Diesel fuel, the engine oil and their additives are ruled out by AGQM’s demanding no-harm tests.

Last year for the first time AGQM offered a test program for oxidation stabilizers for Biodiesel intended for the use in heating oil. This was due to the increasing demand for bio heating oil. For this application, safe handling and compatibility of the additives also must be guaranteed at all times. Until now no additive could pass this test.

In the past ten no-harm test rounds 47 of the 69 tested additives could pass the test successfully. All successfully tested and therefore certified oxidation stabilizers for Biodiesel are published on AGQM’s homepage.
